Volunteer

Our branch is run on voluntary basis and we understand the importance of volunteers and the tremendous contribution that volunteers can have on society. There's lots of ways you can volunteer for our branch and get involved with our work, we never pressurise any of our fundraising team, members of our team pick and choose events that they want to volunteer at that suit them. The level of involvement you choose is up to you, whether you want to fundraise for our cause, or join our team it's up to you!

Fundraising for our Cause

Want to do something to support a fantastic cause, but don't have too much time to give? Then why not get involved in one of our planned events, to see what we have coming up please visit the branch diary page.

We also have a partnership with Skydive Hibaldstow to offer Skydives from 15,000ft at a reduced price, and we even offer reimbursed jump costs. More information can be found on the Skydive to Beat Blood Cancer page under the Get Involved tab.

If we don't have anything on offer that you fancy but you still want to get involved we could work with you to create a sponsored challenge that's suitable for you, whether it be a head shave, bike ride or run, whatever works for you we'll support you as best we can. Likewise, if you want to organise your own fundraising event, whether it be at work or school, or if it's a social event we'll do all we can to support you and help make it a success.

Join Our Fundraising Team

We began fundraising in 2010 as comprehensive school pupils which saw the birth of the Winterton and District Branch. Our team is primarily made up of young people, and is led by young people. However our branch continues to grow year on year and we now have members of our fundraising team of all ages.

We host a wide variety of events throughout the year, this has included, bungee jumps, fashion shows, talent shows, sponsored walks and much more. We also regularly attend community events where we have stands, as well as running supermarket collections to help raise funds. We have lots of opportunities throughout the year to get involved with, so if you have some time and want to help make a difference in our community why not get involved?

If you are under the age of 16 then why not join our Local Youth Development Program. The Local Youth Development Program has been created to provide young people with a platform to develop their soft skills and become involved in a young, energetic and vibrant team of individuals dedicated to beat blood cancers. We are committed to mentoring these young people to help enhance their CV’s to make them more employable through providing opportunities to take an active role in our events, and manage their own projects. There will also be the opportunity for those that show commitment and dedication to the branch to receive awards in recognition of their work. You can find out more on the Local Youth Development Program page under the Get Involved tab.

We also have award schemes in place to recognise the work of the young people in our team, including the Diana Award, Lions International Awards, vInspired Awards, as well as our own branch awards for volunteers of all ages.
